It’s summer! In my house that means lots of family time spent traveling around to different parks, beaches and other fun activities in our area. I like to take things fairly easy and unplanned in the summer whenever we can, but we do have a couple of longer trips scheduled as well – a camping trip with friends and a cruise to cap off the end of the summer – which we all all excited about. In the mean time, we will be exploring some of the great places in the Vancouver area, such as:
- English Bay: This beach is one of Vancouverite’s favourite hangout spots for a reason. While many people use the beach to kayak or even windsurf, we just like to hang out with the kids, play in the water, and maybe buy an ice cream cone or two from the nearby shops.
- Capilano Suspension Bridge: My kids always get a thrill out of crossing the famous suspended bridge, but they also love the smaller bridges in the Treetops Adventure. I personally, tend to get a little panicky on their glass-bottomed Cliffwalk, but we never miss doing it each time we visit. It’s certainly a thrill.
- Fort Langley: This is where the Hudson’s Bay Company set up their first fur trading post in the area. Fort Langley has a fun program for kids called Explorers, where they can learn and participate in blacksmithing, barrel-making and trading.
